Webdoc Insights
Webdoc Insights is an internal web application for visualising key metrics and building presentation views with dynamic content. The project consists of a dashboard, a presentation editor, and a presentation player.
My role
I worked primarily with frontend development and UI, contributing to building reusable components in Storybook, developing widgets for statistics display, and creating various slides for presenting data such as weather, traffic, and key metrics.
The focus was on creating a flexible, modern, and clear user experience where data becomes more accessible and visually engaging.
Tech Stack
Goal
Webdoc wanted a dashboard giving a clear overview of their services, along with slides for Västtrafik departures, weather, and other dynamic content.
Challenge
One of the biggest challenges was connecting backend data to our widgets in a way that worked reliably and consistently. The data came from different sources and needed to be mapped correctly to each widget type — requiring precision and a clear understanding of both the data structures and the interface logic.
Solution
The key was communication. By keeping an ongoing dialogue with the backend team, we could identify early on what the data looked like, what needed to be adjusted, and where responsibilities lay. Many problems were solved faster by talking them through together rather than working in isolation — a clear reminder of how essential collaboration and clarity are in a shared system.
Result & learnings
The dashboard became more modular and easier to extend, with components reused consistently across multiple parts of the system. The project gave me a deeper understanding of how design systems, component thinking, and state management connect in larger interfaces — and how to build flexible UI solutions that still feel stable and well-considered for the user.
